I have been self-motivated and entrepreneurial for as long as I can remember. I started my first business in Guangzhou, China at the age of 18 and continued to embark on numerous pioneering ventures even during my days as a medical science student at Flinders University.
After graduating from Sun-Yet Sen Medical School in China, I arrived in Adelaide in 2002 as a Medical Science Student at Flinders University. After I gained my Bachelor Degree as a Medical Scientist, I felt that Adelaide was the place for me to live, work and call home. I became an Australia Citizen in 2010.
On completing my university studies I realised my entrepreneurial flair was as strong as ever. This prompted me to start my real estate business, DG Real Estate, which has recently expanded and moved into new premises in Gouger Street in the city. DG Real Estate has now been a part of Adelaide for over 10 years and continues to go from strength to strength with a quality team of skilled and reliable people.
I am married to Linyan Wu, who came to Adelaide to undertake studies for her Doctor of Philosophy, in 2004. Linyan obtained her PhD in Human Physiology and worked as a post-doctoral research officer in the Medical School of the University of Adelaide.  Linyan has continued her research in the areas of Development, Molecular Endocrinology, Fertility and Sterility and published between 1 and 6 papers every year since 2011 in various international journals. Our first child Kevin was born in 2009 and our daughter Ella was born 3 years later.
Having achieved most of my life’s ambitions by age 35, I started to think about what else I could do to help others and make a valuable contribution to my community. Firstly, I joined the proactive business association, China Business Network South Australia (CBNSA), founded by former Adelaide Lord Mayor, Dr Alfred Huang. I put-in considerable effort to promote local businesses to China and help them develop connections with investors from China. In November 2016, I was elected President of CBNSA.
As well, I formed the first Chinese Soccer Club in South Australia, called Adelaide Great Wall Football Club, together with some captains of different soccer teams from the local Chinese community. Currently we have over 100 registered players with the South Australian Amateur Soccer League.
I ran for Adelaide City Council election in 2018 and elected as a councillor for City of Adelaide.
