2016 Chinese New Year Event

On February 1, 2016, CBNSA hosted a very successful Chinese New Year Dinner for over 340 guests at the San Giorgia La Molara Function Centre at Payneham.  The Dinner is now the CBNSA’s “signature” annual event.

Consistent with a theme of multi-culturalism, guests were greeted by Scottish bagpipes before entering the Function Centre and being entertained by a Lion dance, the HuaXia Dance Group, the Baker Boys Band and 3 beautiful songs sung by Christina Seeliger.

Guests of honour included the Chinese Consul-General, the Hon. Mr Henry Rao, the SA Premier, the Hon. Jay Weatherill, the Minister for Investment & Trade, the Hon. Martin Hamilton-Smith, and the Lord Mayor of Adelaide, the Hon. Martin Haese.

Everyone agreed the food and wine was wonderful; and it just kept on coming!  Other highlights included Leoni McKeon and Simon Hou’s hardwork as Masters of Ceremeony, a successful Raffle Draw (including anumber of re-draws for a much-coveted 6 litre magnum of red wine, which was held up very bravely by Michael Chen for almost 20 minutes) and Malinda Kuo inviting the members of the CBNSA Committee to the stage (which noticeably groaned under the weight of 25 committee members).

Final thanks must go for the wonderful work of Festival City Photography for photographs.
